Milwaukee is one of the Midwest region’s economic and cultural heavyweights and offers plenty of great locations for your engagement photography session.
Start off your engagement photo shoot at the Milwaukee Riverwalk, a two-mile long stretch of Milwaukee’s best dining, shopping, and nightlife that winds around the Milwaukee River. Here, you and your fiancée can pose beside unique public sculptures created by some of the city’s best artists. Your engagement photographer can take photos of you and your man leaning against the railing with the river as a backdrop or standing on any of the bridges overlooking the water. There are also countless little benches scattered throughout the Riverwalk that are perfect for seated photos. Finally, have your photographer capture some photos of you and your fiancée posing on the docks beside the water, surrounded by various colorful boats and water taxis.
Once you’ve finished at the river, take a short drive over to the city’s famous Pier Wisconsin. Your engagement photographer can also capture an intimate portrait of you and your fiancée on the pier, itself, with the glimmering Milwaukee River serving as a backdrop. For the adventurous couple, the area around the pier offers a heap of rugged-looking stones right beside the water that will make a great spot for an outdoorsy portrait.
Finally, drive south a few miles to arrive at the Hoan Bridge, Milwaukee’s most grandiose tied arch bridge. Take a stroll below the bridge as your engagement photographer goes to work, capturing the interesting geometries afforded by the bridge's unique shape. An exemplary display of Flemish Renaissance Revival style, the mansion was built in 1892 to serve as a home for one of the founders of the famous Pabst Brewing Company. Once you arrive, have your engagement photographer create a portrait of you and your fiancée frolicking on the lush green lawn in the foreground of the building. Then walk over to the entrance and take a seated photo on the mansion’s front steps. The mansion’s charming side chapel is also a great spot for a photo op, located to the right of the front balustrade. Finally, have your engagement photographer create a portrait of you and your fiancée beneath the elegant porte-cochere on the left side of the mansion.
Only a mile away from Pabst Mansion you’ll find another of Milwaukee’s most prized architectural gems – the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Built through the combined efforts Milwaukee’s immigrant Polish population in the middle of the 19th century, the church is a must-see for tourists and Milwaukee locals, alike. You and your fiancée can pose along the front steps with the whole of the magnificent cathedral in the background. For a perfect engagement portrait, have your photographer take a photo of you and your man outside the front doors beneath the elegant arched entrance. Your photographer can also arrange a portrait of you and your fiancée at an angle such that the church’s two towering spires create a breathtaking background.
You’ll be amazed once you visit some of Milwaukee’s most famous architectural treasures!
One of Milwaukee’s most unique attractions, the Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory is a perfect location to have your engagement photo shoot. The conservatory is composed of three large glass domes, each of which maintains a particular climate for the purpose of housing a distinct kind of plant life. The Show Dome offers a different kind of floral exhibit each season and the plant life vary in fall, winter, spring, and summer.
