Wedding Video FAQs
I am considering asking a friend with a quality camera to videotape my wedding. Why should I pay more to hire a professional instead?
Hiring a talented friend to handle catering, music, video or any other part of your wedding could be a good way to spare your budget. However, professional videography delivers more than just a chronological series of clips from your wedding. Our filmmakers know how to set up artistic shots, shoot in challenging conditions, skillfully conduct important interviews, and remain unobtrusive so they don't disrupt the natural flow of the day's events.
So, what you pay for is a professionally filmed and edited video, as well as the peace of mind that no important moments will be botched or missed.
What if I don't feel comfortable on camera?
In all the excitement of your wedding, you will be surprised at how quickly you forget about the camera. The professionalism of our filmmakers and their ability to remain unobtrusive is one of the biggest advantages of the Bella Pictures approach. They are there to record the true events of your day, and will not interfere with or influence what you are doing in any way.
Can you guarantee that I'll have coverage on my wedding day?
Unlike working with an individual, an advantage of working with Bella Pictures is that no matter what happens, you will always have a Bella Filmmaker and Certified Bella Photographer on the day of your wedding.
When can I expect to receive my DVD?
We will ship your DVD to you approximately six months after your wedding.
Can I make copies of my wedding video?
Yes. We provide you with a DVD of your videos and also host the Highlight Reel online. You are free to share the link with anyone, and you can make as many copies as you like for personal use or for family and friends.
How long are the videos?
The Highlight Reel is four to six minutes long, and the Documentary Reel is 45 – 90 minutes, depending on the length of your ceremony.
Will you film my bridal party or any guests at my reception who want to be on camera?
We are glad to use the time between your ceremony and reception to interview your VIP guests.
Can I get video without photography?
Video is only available as part of a photography package. Our style of filmmaking involves close cooperation between the photographer and the videographer. We believe this is far superior to having a photographer and videographer who've never worked together before show up at your wedding and compete for the same shots.
Do you film in HD?
We shoot in Standard Definition, because we believe it offers superior quality for wedding coverage. Here's why:
- At this time, HD does not perform well in low-light situations like hotel ballrooms and indoor banquet halls.
- High Definition might be terrific for a sports event, but it can be rather unforgiving for close-ups of people. Our documentary-style filmmaking is all about capturing the emotional moments of the day, which includes lots of close-ups!
- All of Bella's video packages include free hosting of your Highlight Reel online — a service for which some of our competitors charge up to $1,000! We include this service because we believe that weddings are all about sharing memories. From performing quality tests, we found that after HD has been compressed for online viewing, there is no discernible difference from Standard Definition.
