As fate would have it, I first laid eyes on my future wife as she was walking down the aisle. This took place at our best friends’ wedding in San Jose-- I was the best man and Vivian was a bridesmaid. — Vivian and David
At the reception, to my delightful surprise, I was seated next to her. But, my hopes sank when I noticed a diamond ring on Vivian’s hand. I carried on the rest of the night with a slight broken heart from a person I barely knew. It wasn't until I had returned home to Irvine, that her best friend, the bride, informed me that the ring was actually an heirloom from her grandmother. She allowed me the privilege of visiting her, and the opportunity to explore San Francisco again for the first time in over 20 years. After I proposed, we planned a San Francisco-themed wedding, to reflect the spirit of our first date.
We were married at St. Peter and Paul’s Church in North Beach and held our reception at the Argonaut Hotel, in the heart of Fisherman’s Wharf. To incorporate our diverse cultures, we had a Catholic ceremony and a Chinese tea ceremony, followed by an outdoor cocktail reception complete with a mariachi trio. Our Bella photographer captured every gorgeous detail, including a photo walk that incorporated historical elements of San Francisco, such as the cable car, Hyde Street Pier, and The Cannery Building.
