Located along the Hudson River on the West Side of Manhattan, the historic Chelsea Piers have become a favorite choice for wedding photography in New York. Now a luxury sports and entertainment complex, Chelsea Piers is home to The Lighthouse and Pier Sixty, both of which are popular venues for wedding receptions. Start off your wedding photo shoot at The Lighthouse, which provides an elegant combination of tastefully designed indoor space and a breathtaking view of the Hudson River. Begin inside the lighthouse, where your wedding photographer can snap some beautiful photos using the interior’s unique ambience. Then have your photographer take photos of the bridal party outside, using as a backdrop the exterior of the lighthouse, which consists of stylish floor-to-ceiling windows. Finally, take advantage of the gorgeous panoramic view of the Hudson River and the New York cityscape by posing for both group and individual photos outside the lighthouse. Once you’ve finished taking photos at The Lighthouse, take a short limousine ride to Madison Square Park, located only a mile away from the piers. Upon arriving, have your wedding photographer arrange a group portrait on the lush green lawn in the center of the park. For some fun-filled wedding photos, organize a ‘bridesmaids-vs-groomsmen’ chess match over at the chess tables. You and your man can then take a leisurely stroll through the park as your wedding photographer captures some candid photos. Finally, pose for a private wedding portrait seated on one of the park benches or in front of the fountain located in the heart of Madison Square Park.
Overlooking the upscale business and shopping district between Park and Madison Avenues, the luxurious Four Seasons Hotel New York has become a popular venue for Long Island couples looking to tie the knot. Your wedding photographer can start by taking photos of the bridal party at the entrance of the hotel, in front of the elegant glass doors. Enter The Four Seasons and you’ll find yourself inside a chic front lobby, where your wedding photographer can snap some photos of the bridal party along the immaculate marble steps or beside one of the interior columns. Your photographer can also arrange some gentlemen’s photos or girls-only shots alongside the hotel’s stylish bar. Relax with the other members of your bridal party on the hotel’s tasteful furniture as your wedding photographer takes some seated photos. Finally, the bride and groom can pose for an intimate portrait beneath one of beautiful hanging chandeliers. Having finished at The Four Seasons, have your limousine driver take your bridal party for a cruise along the majestic Queensborough Bridge (also known as the 59th St. Bridge), located only minutes away. As you cruise along the bridge, your wedding photographer can capture some light-hearted moments as the bridal party reaches out of the limo’s sunroof. Later, have the members of your party get out of the limousine and take a promenade along the bridge’s pedestrian lane. Meanwhile, your wedding photographer can get some fantastic group and individual photos using the stunning views of the East Side River and the Manhattan skyline as a backdrop.
New York is home to numerous institutions of higher learning, not the least of which is the internationally renowned New York University, located in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village. The largest private, nonprofit university in the country, NYU provides a scenic campus that will be perfect for your wedding photography session. Begin your wedding photo shoot at Judson Memorial Church, located on the south side of campus on the edge of Washington Square Park. Have your wedding photographer organize some individual and group photos using the church’s Italianate architectural style as a background. Afterward, the bride and groom can pose for an intimate portrait beneath one of the large shade trees outside the structure. Once you’ve finished at the church, venture inside Washington Square Park, where your photographer can assemble portraits of the bridal party beneath the towering marble arch or beside the glimmering central fountain. On the northern side of Washington Square Park you will find a row of 13 gorgeous Greek Revival-style townhouses, which will provide great spots for photo ops. Here, your wedding photographer can organize snapshots of the entire bridal party staggered along the immaculate front steps leading up to the homes, as well as private portraits of the bride and groom beneath the arched entrances. Only seconds away from “the row” you’ll find the Washington Mews, a preserved cobblestone road surrounded by the campus’s cultural houses that will add a historic touch to your wedding photography album. These are just some of the scenic places you’ll be exploring on the New York University campus!
