Known informally as the home of the South, Atlanta is one of the most diverse and populous capital cities in the entire country. A booming cultural and financial metropolis, Atlanta will make a great location for your wedding day photography session.
Start off your wedding photo shoot at the luxurious Four Seasons Atlanta Hotel, located in the heart of downtown Atlanta. Have your wedding photographer arrange a portrait of the entire bridal party on the expansive verdant lawn in the foreground of the hotel. Afterward, your photographer can take some individual and group photos in front of the hotel entrance. Venture inside the elegant lobby, and have your bridal party pose for relaxed photos, lounging on the charming furniture. Meanwhile, the bride and groom can take some photos beneath one of the stylish hanging chandeliers. Finally, have your wedding photographer stagger the bridal party along the marble spiral staircase. Once you’ve finished at the hotel, take a short limousine ride over to the St. Mark United Methodist Church, located only a few minutes away. Upon arrival, your bridal party can pose for a group photo along the front steps of the church. Your wedding photographer can then create an intimate portrait of the bride and groom beneath one of the three arched entrances, or use all of them for a gentlemen’s shot or a girls-only photo. The bridal party can then post for some photos on the lawn in front of the church and the bride and groom can take some photos beneath one of the large surrounding shade trees. Finally, drive over to Atlanta’s most famous urban attraction – Centennial Olympic Park. The park provides a number of perfect spots for photo ops, including a giant chess board, sparkling fountains, beautiful sculptures, and towering columns scattered throughout. Directly across from the park is the the Georgia Aquarium - the world's largest aquarium. Although the price of general admission is not cheap ($26.00 for an adult ticket), the aquarium boasts some amazing architecture inside and out, and the fantastic underwater scenery will make for some unforgettable photos. A favorite of locals and tourists alike, the park is a great location to conclude your wedding day photo shoot!
One of the top research universities in the country, Emory University contains a picturesque campus with lots of great locations for your wedding photography session. Begin by posing for a group photo beside the Memorial Gateway, the university’s entrance at the edge of campus. Then walk through and kick off your excursion of the entire campus, which is filled with gorgeous landmark buildings. The most well-known area of campus is the Quadrangle, the symbolic heart of the campus. The large lush green lawn within the quadrangle is a perfect spot to organize a group photo of the entire bridal party. The bride and groom can then take some seated photos on one of the cozy benches scattered along the quadrangle’s exterior. Afterward, head over to the Lullwater House, home of Emory’s president. Here, your photographer can take some group and individual photos in the courtyard, using the building’s delightful English Tudor-Gothic exterior as a backdrop. Finally, the bride and groom can take a leisurely stroll along Peavine Creek as your wedding photographer snaps some candid photos. The creek winds around a natural landscape that will provide a beautiful setting for your wedding photos.
The Cathedral of Saint Philip is one of the most stunning places of worship in all of Atlanta and will make a great place for your wedding day photo shoot. Situated atop a small hill in Atlanta’s cozy Buckhead neighborhood, the cathedral is truly a site to marvel at. Once you arrive, have your wedding photographer assemble a portrait of the bridal party in the courtyard at the front of the church. The structure’s gorgeous Gothic-style architecture will create a romantic backdrop for your photos. The bridal party can also pose on the slightly sloping grassy area leading up to the church. Afterward, the bride and groom can stand for a portrait in front of the elegant entrance doors or beneath one of the large shade trees in scattered around the perimeter of the cathedral. Your wedding photographer can also have the bride and groom pose against the brick exterior walls of the cathedral for contrast. After you’ve finished at the Cathedral of Saint Philip, take a short drive over to Piedmont Park, one of the most popular public parks in Atlanta. Here, the bride and groom can take a promenade around the tranquil lake while your wedding photographer goes to work. The park also has a secluded little gazebo that will provide a great spot for some intimate portraits of the bride and groom. Your wedding photographer can then use the bridge overlooking the water as a beautiful setting for group photos of the entire party or for individual shots. You’ll always remember your wedding photo shoot in Atlanta, Georgia!
