Arguably the most popular tourist destination on the West Coast, San Francisco offers endless scenic locations for your engagement photography session.
One of the city's most popular places for engagement photography is The Presidio, a gorgeous 1480-acre park located on the northern tip of the San Francisco Peninsula. You can begin your engagement photo shoot at Crissy Field, a former airfield that has been transformed into on of San Francisco's most beautiful natural settings. Have your photographer capture some laidback moments between you and your loved one as you stroll along the park's mile-long promenade or feel free to frolic in the lush green grass for some playful photos. The coast guard station at Crissy Field can also create a charming setting for your engagement photos. Finally, Crissy Field offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco Marina that will provide perfect backdrops for your engagement photo shoot. Your next stop in The Presidio will be the Interfaith Chapel, a mission-style hillside chapel overlooking the bay. The chapel's immaculate exterior will provide an elegant background for your engagement photos. You can also have your photographer take pictures as you and your fiancee linger on the red brick steps leading up to the entrance doors. Afterward, visit the tranquil and secluded chapel garden, where you and your man can pose on the cozy benches, beneath the majestic shade trees, or on the verdant lawn, surrounded by the garden's vibrant flower beds.
For your final destination, take a short hike over to Inspiration Point, The Presidio's most spectacular vantage point. Here, you and your loved one can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of San Francisco's Palace of Fine Arts, Angel Island, and even Alcatraz. The lush greenery of the Presidio Forrest and the expansive San Francisco Marina will also provide picturesque natural backdrops for your engagement photos. You'll be swept away by all the scenic landscapes The Presidio has to offer!
Known as the 'Little Italy' of San Francisco, the city's North Beach neighborhood has a fascinating history, a unique character, and numerous historic landmarks to its credit. One of the area's most renowned landmarks is the magnificent Sts. Peter and Paul Church, opposite San Francisco's Washington Square Park. Erected in 1924 through the efforts of Italian immigrants, the structure boasts a stunning neo-Gothic architectural style. The church's front steps lead up to an arched entrance, a perfect spot for an engagement photo. From Washington Square Park, your photographer can organize a gorgeous photo with the cathedral's twin spires in the backdrop. The park, itself, is also a fine setting for your engagement photo shoot. Wander along the park's pathways as your photographer captures some candid photos or relax on the park's verdant lawn. After visiting the Sts. Peter and Paul Church and its surrounding area, you'll quickly understand why the church has been designated 'The Italian Cathedral of the West.' Once you've finished your photo shoot at the cathedral, take a short walk over to Fisherman's Wharf, one of San Francisco's most popular tourist attractions. Your photographer can take pictures as you and your fiancee stroll along the wharf or relax on any of the benches, facing the waterfront. The wharf also runs through San Francisco's famous Pier 39, renowned for its sun-bathing sea lions, as well as its unique street performers (it's not at all unlikely that you'll be able to pose with one!). Finally, to add a truly San Franciscan element to your engagement photos, hitch a ride on one of the famous cable cars that run through the wharf.
Often compared to New York City's Central Park, Golden Gate Park offers one of San Francisco's most amazing natural settings and is the third-most-visited city park in the entire country. You and your fiancee can start off with a trip to Spreckels Lake, located on the park's northern side. Usually filled with racing model yachts, Spreckels Lake can provide a unique backdrop for your engagement photos. Have your wedding photographer capture the lake in the background as you and your fiancee amble along the paved walkway or pose on the miniature bridge overlooking the water. Next head over to the San Francisco Botanical Garden, whose colorful floral collections will add a vibrant natural ambience for your engagement photography session. Finally, head over to Kezar Stadium, located in the southeastern corner of the park. Though the stadium was demolished in 1989, it contains a replica of the impressive arched entrance - a great spot for an engagement photo. Your photographer can also have you and your fiancee pose in between the stadium's towering Doric columns. Other great spots to visit in Golden Gate Park include the Japanese Tea Garden, Stow Lake, and the Conservatory of Flowers.
