One of the most diverse and exciting cities in the Southern California, San Diego offers plenty of stunning locations for your engagement photography session.
For an urban-themed engagement photography session, visit one of San Diego's most renowned business and entertainment districts - the Gaslamp Quarter Historic District. At the gateway to this historic district sits the luxurious Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Hotel, whose neatly landscaped courtyard-plaza will provide a lovely location for your engagement photography session. Take a leisurely stroll along the walkways that dissect the plaza or relax on the lush green grass, as your photographer takes some candid photos. The courtyard's palm tree grove, combined with the surrounding urban cityscape, will create a unique backdrop for your engagement photos. You can then make your way down the Gaslamp Quarter's brick-paved sidewalks and explore the rest of the district. Popular photo ops include the famous Gaslamp sign on Fifth Avenue, Jessop's Clock on Horton Plaza, the Victorian-style Keating Building, and Croce's Restaurant & Jazz Bar, where you can stop for some refreshing cocktails and live music. After you've finished touring the Gaslamp Quarter, take a short walk over to Embarcadero Marina Park, only half a mile away. The park takes the form of two miniature islands that embrace the San Diego Marina. Here, your photographer can capture you and your fiancee frolicking in the grass as you soak in the San Diego sun, or have you both pose beneath the giant shade trees surrounding the park. From the South Embarcadero Park Pier, your photographer can create gorgeous engagement photos with the sparkling waters of the marina serving as a backdrop. The pier also offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the San Diego skyline!
One of San Diego's most famous historic landmarks, the stunning Victorian-style Hotel del Coronado sits just across the San Diego Bay from the mainland city. There is so much to explore at this luxury beachfront hotel that you won't be able to help but come back for seconds! Have your engagement photographer take photos of you and your fiancee posing on the front lawn at the entrance of the main building, surrounded by majestic palm trees and other tropical plant life. Upon entering the hotel, you'll find yourself inside the elegant front lobby, where you and your loved one can pose beneath the glimmering hanging chandelier or looking down from the second-story balcony. Also visit the hotel's secluded Japanese Tea Garden, where your photographer can arrange some intimate photos of you and your fiancee as you stand atop the garden's miniature bridge, kick back on one of the cozy benches, or simply peruse the garden. Finally, take the trail that leads from the hotel all the way down to the beach and have fun splashing around in the warm San Diego water or simply relaxing on the sand. You'll have an unforgettable time during your engagement photo shoot at this world-class beachfront hotel!
On your drive back to the mainland city, make sure to stop at various places along the Coronado Bay Bridge for some beautiful photo ops. To the east you will have the stunning cityscape of mainland San Diego and, westward, a view of the crimson Hotel del Coronado and the city of Coronado. On either side of the bridge, the San Diego Bay will provide a picturesque backdrop for your engagement photos, particularly in the late afternoon hours. You and your fiancee will be blown away by this truly romantic setting off the coast of Southern California!
You don't want to pass up the Cabrillo National Monument, a San Diego treasure that will provide a one-of-a-kind seaside setting for your engagement photography session. The monument is located on the Point Loma Peninsula, which separates the Pacific Ocean from the San Diego Bay and is home to some of San Diego's most famous historic landmarks. The Old Point Loma Lighthouse is located cliff-side, at the highest point of the Cabrillo National Monument, and is often used as a symbol for the city of San Diego, itself. Your engagement photographer can use this historic landmark as a backdrop for a private portrait of you and your fiancee. Only a short distance away you'll find the Cabrillo Statue, surrounded by a paved, red brick circle. From this vista point, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the San Diego Harbor and the Pacific Ocean. Also visible are the San Diego skyline, Coronado Island, and the Naval Air Station North Island. If you're feeling particularly adventurous, take a short drive over to Sunset Cliffs Park, also located on the peninsula just a few miles north of the Cabrillo National Monument. The park's unique cliffs, combined with crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean, will make your engagement photo shoot on the Point Loma Peninsula complete!
