Design Details
- Photo emphasis
Storytelling albums with a mix of candid and some portrait photographs are now more popular, but some people prefer a more traditional album with mostly portraits and group photos.
- Tonal preference
White, ivory or other light colors can help create a traditional look or a crisp magazine-style layout. Black and dark tones suggest a more contemporary or sophisticated style. Photo backgrounds can give your album a feeling of depth and nuance.
- Style preference
Make sure to visit the album layout styles page to help you make your choice.
- Cover color
All covers are genuine glove leather. The most popular cover color is black. White is more traditional, but has fallen out of favor in the past few years — it also doesn't stand up to wear as well as darker colors. There are other possibilities: various shades of red, green, blue, gray, etc. But unless you have a compelling reason to go with something very different, our recommendation is black.
- Metallic edge gilding
Colors available are black, silver, gold and white. If you'd rather not have gilded edges, then choose either black or white to match your tonal preference (above).
- Cover cameo photo
A cameo is photo inset into the cover of your album. It is optional, but adds no additional cost. The cameo can be a photo that is already in your book or a completely different one. The available cameo sizes vary according to the size of your album and are indicated on the album input form.
The best choice is usually a close-up portrait of just the bride and groom. The cameo can be color or black and white, but we find that black and white looks especially good, particularly with a black cover.
Photo Selection
For design purposes, we plan your album in separate parts, as follows:
- First page
The first page of your album sets the opening for the story of your wedding day told in pictures. We recommend that you choose a beautiful portrait of the bride and groom, but the choice is yours.
- Part one
Normally this part of the book includes pictures of the preparations and last-minute behind-the-scenes activities — some of the most spontaneous and memorable moments of your wedding day.
- Part two
Usually this section showcases your wedding ceremony, the most important part of your day.
- Part three
Of course, no wedding is complete without a celebration, and this part of the book usually features photos of you and your guests enjoying your reception.
- Part four
Formal portraits were what people used to think of when they heard the words "wedding photography." Things have changed, but most couples still like to include some must-have portraits in their wedding album.
- Final page
Your wedding day marks a new beginning in your life, a book whose last chapter is never finished. Your wedding album should close with a look forward at your new life together.
General Tips
The number of photos used on each page of your album will vary based on the style of the album selected. It is important to give your designer as many options to choose from for the best possible results. Please make certain you include the Section, Roll and Frame number of each picture.
