About Kris

As a photojournalist, Kris documents weddings as they naturally unfold. He doesn't go to wedding seminars, workshops or read wedding magazines to follow what wedding style is "hot" right now. As he says, he plays by his own rules and regularly studies the work of celebrated documentary photographers in order to incorporate interesting and revealing new perspectives and photographic angles into his wedding work.

Experience

Kris is a standing member of the Wedding Photojournalist Association. In addition to his wedding photography, he is an accomplished photojournalist and covers politicians, celebrities and current events for such publications as Time Magazine, People, the New York Times and USA Today.

Kris’ Approach to Wedding Photography

Kris covers each wedding as though he is working on a documentary. He discovers the unique background and emotional binding elements of the couple and brings them to life in his images. It is Kris’ goal to foreground a couple’s story and personalities through his photos without being at all intrusive. He chooses to operate as more of a “fly on the wall” than a director barking orders—he takes charge when necessary, but prefers to fade into the background at other times. As he says, "Many wedding photographers direct the day as they want it to unfold. I like to sit back and watch the natural progression of the day and let it take shape on its own."
